The long overdue Movember week 2 update is finally here! Some good progress this week – I think you can now tell we are trying to actually grow moustaches and don’t just have bad personal hygiene…
Keep the donations coming in here or if you come past our office you can drop a few coins in the box at the front desk – every bit counts!
Steve and I are gearing up to participate in Movember this year. For those not familiar with Movember, the official website sums things up as follows:
‘During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Australia and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.’
Having not grown moustaches before we did a quick mock-up in photoshop of how we might look come November 30…
We just hope we can raise some donations and awareness and also have a bit of fun without scaring away too many vendors and buyers! You can find out more or donate on our page here - http://au.movember.com/mospace/1456726 - and look out for our weekly updates on this blog, our facebook page or on the screens in the front window of our office!
We are very excited to now have our new website online at www.luschwitz.com.au! The web has come a long way since we built our very first website in 1999 (for a laugh head over to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine and take a look at how your favourite websites appeared in the 1990′s), but the fundamentals remain same and we hope the new site still lets you find out what we have for sale, for lease and recently sold quickly and easily.
Apart from providing visitors with some more useful information, the biggest new feature of the site is the customised alerts. Whether you are looking to buy or lease or simply keep an eye on the market you can now provide us with your specific requirements and you will receive an instant alert as soon as we list a property that meets your criteria.
Have a look around and let us know what you think – there is still a lot of content to come and we would love to hear your feedback so we can continue to improve the site.

A quick post to highlight an impressive new development in Wahroonga that we are opening for the first time this weekend. ‘Thornton Grove’ is a boutique estate of 4 brand new family homes. Surrounded by impeccably landscaped gardens and featuring expansive level lawns, towering Manchurian pears, Murraya, Camellias and other exotic plants these architectural designed houses have been constructed for modern day family living and security. More information here. First open for inspection this Saturday 13th August at 2-2:45pm.
The twitterverse is buzzing after the front page article in today’s Financial Review (see it here) entitled “Real Estate Agents Revolt”. Agent dissatisfaction with REA Group isn’t a new thing, but perhaps we haven’t seen it expressed so publicly with such a united front. Still, should REA Group really be worried? Simon Baker doesn’t seem to think so in his response and the thoughts on business2.com.au have been mixed. From an agent’s point of view it would be fantastic to have a real alternative to domain.com.au and realestate.com.au, especially one that was created by and for agents and wasn’t simply about extracting profit from them. From a vendor’s point of view, I would want my property to get the maximum exposure and I think for most vendors that still means a listing on realestate.com.au and domain.com.au (at least in our part of the world). For the moment I think it would be a brave (or foolish) agent who pitches a marketing appraisal without including realestate.com.au, but with the right portal design and the support of the major franchises Project Rebellion might just take hold.
